!Patient and Families Matter !
Here at Kindred they value the patient and their families first. Building strong bonds and letting them live comfortable
Kindred Hospice is where patients who are diagnosed with a terminal illness with six months or less are eligible to qualify to be on Hospice. Medicaid fully funds this organization and that is a requirement from them. Once they get on Hospice they are treated with the upmost care. Hospice provides physical, emotional and spiritual resources for the patient. They take care of each patient throughout their remaining time that they have. It seems a little sad but It is amazing to see how it all works. Everyone here treats their patients very highly and stresses that they are important and their comfort is most important. Being an intern here I was able to visit patients and see what it was all about. They also have a program We Honor Veterans that seeks out veteran patients and honors them accordingly. They have the option to get a volunteer and if they would like one, they choose a veteran volunteer. I had visit with my supervisor, the part time Chaplin and a social worker. At times I would get sad knowing what is to come but they comforted me and told me we are there to make them as comfortable and happy as they can. I was able to finish projects that some in the office have started but do not have time to finish. I researched Catholic Churches in the counties they serve, called funeral homes and asked them questions.
